Summer has brought with it a new fascination with the purity of ingredients.

Last year I explored a more cinematic approach to perfumery, but following the success of Frankly Clement — centred around an intensely vivid Brazilian five-fold pressed orange — I found myself drawn toward something quieter and more singular.

This jasmine is warm, honeyed and luminous. A delicate framework of soft white woods, musk and pink pepper forms a subtle Jonathan Ward signature beneath the composition, allowing the beauty of the flower to remain at the centre.

There is a phrase I learned during my years in fashion and American design:

“Less is more.”

Trusting instinct, I have become increasingly interested in the idea of allowing a single material the space to truly sing — giving it nothing more than the structure and light needed to reveal its full character.

With the purity of the fragrance, there needed to be an adjustment to the base composition which is finer (closer to the softness of an organic baby wash).
