5The hands of the commercial calendar are almost chiming again…With Christmas squarely in the not-too-distant past. And  Mother’s day not quite upon us, what could be next ?! Valentine. I  have to refrain from stepping too much into sardonic prose with this hallmark date…

However, the patron saint of love could well be a misidentified martyr after a PR makeover.

Allegedly (my favourite word to avoid historical missteps), Valentine championed his name by performing weddings during the reign of Emperor Claudius II, who banned unions and marriages so that men could make better soldiers. Because heaven forbid a man be a soldier and a lover. Impossible right?
